We must remember two things, first death and second God, if we want our welfare. Thus we will be able to avoid bad deeds and do some thing good in life. Saint Narayan has said,

अब जनि कोउ माखे भट मानी। बीर बिहीन मही मैं जानी।
तजहु आस निज निज गृह जाहू। लिखा न बिधि बैदेहि बिबाहू। बालकाण्ड 251 -2
ab jani kou makhe bbhat maani. beer biheen mahi main jaani.
tajahu aas nij nij grih jaau. likha na bidhi baidehi bibahu.
When no one was able to break the bow of Lord Shiva, Janak, the father of Sita told all the present princes that hence forward no one claim to be hero. He thought that the earth is without any hero. Now leaving all hope they should now leave for their homes as the the god has not written the marriage of Sita.

thousand kings then tried all at once to raise the bow (bow of Lord
Shiva) but all their efforts were useless in the same way as the words
of gallant (kaami purush) can not affect the mind of a virtuous lady.

Those foolish kings indignantly strained at the bow and had to return shamefully when the bow did not leave its position. Shri Tulsidas says that it seems that the bow was gaining more and more weight with the touch of more and more powerful kings.

When Lord Ram came to Bow-sacrifice (dhnuashjagya),every one looked at Him according to his own conception. Those who were extremely staunch at the battlefield, looked at HIm as if He is the personified heroic sentiment. The wicked kings trembled with fear as if they saw the most terrible form.The demons who were in disguise of princes beheld Him as death in the visible form while the citizens saw the two brothers as the ornaments of humanity and delight of their eyes.

Generally a beautiful face is compared with the beauty of the moon but in this Doha Lord Ram does not want to compare the face of Sita with the moon because there are many infirmities in the moon. The moon is born of the sea (which is salty), its brother is poison (poison is also born of sea-during Samudra Manthan), it is faded during the day and it has a black spot on it. Hence the poor and wretched moon has no comparison with the face of Sita.

mangan lahahi na jinh ke maahi. te narvar thore jag maahi.
It is the natural trait with the race of Raghu that they never set their feet on the evil courses. As for myself(Ram Says), I am fully confident of my mind which has never sought another's wife even in my dream. Rare are those noble men in this world, who never show their back to the foe and do not cast amorous glance at another's wife and from whom no beggar returns empty handed.

After describing the beauty of Sita to Himself, Ram told his brother that she is the daughter of Janak for whose sake the bow sacrifice is being held.She has been accompanied by her girl companies to worship Goddess Gauri and moving in the garden(Pushp-batika) deffusing light all about her. Ram says,"My heart which is naturally pious, is agitated by the transcendent beauty of Sita.. The reason of which is only known to the God,but my right limbs are throbbing which are symbol of good fortune."

as kahi firi chitaye tehi ora.Siya mukh sasi bhaye nayan chakora.
bhaye bilochan charu achanchal. manahu sakuchi nimi taje diganchal.
On hearing the tinkling of bangles, the small bells tied around the waist and anklets of Sitaji, Shri Ram thought in himself and said to Lakhanji that it seemed that cupid had sounded his kettledrum with intention to conquer the universe. After saying so Ram again turned to the direction from where the sound was coming. He looked at the face of Janaki, as if chakor bird was looking at the moon.His charming eyes became motinless as if NiMI(the god of eyelids) has left the eyelids out of shyness.
(Nimi was the fore father of Janak and it is said that he got his place on eye-lids after his death and eye-lids move only due to this. But when Nimi saw the Shri Ram was looking at Janaki, he left eyes as Janaki was his great grand daughter.and he can not see the true love of Ram and Sita, hence eyes became motionless.)

When the citizens knew that the two sons of king Dasrath had come to see the city,they came to see them after leaving their homes and all their work. They were so eager as if the poor are getting the treasure. All are happy to see the two brothers who are very charming and they enjoy the fruits of their eyes.. Ladies were all set to the air-holes of their houses and lovingly glazed the beauty of Ram.Thus every body was stunned by the beauty of Ram.

When Ram Laxman and Vishwamitra reached Janakpur, Ram requested the sage that Laxman wanted to see the city. At this, Vishwamitra told them to see the city. As both of you are the the abode of comfort, go and bestow the fruits of eyes to the people by showing your charming faces. Really the success of eyes is the Darshan of Lord Ram.

Rising at the break of the day, Shri Ram would bow His head to His parents and preceptor and after obtaining permission busied Himself in the affairs of the city. The king (Dasrath) was glad at heart to see His noble acts. The character of Lord Ram presents a moral to youngsters that they should bow to their parents and teachers every morning.

Narad muni became agitated when he was given a form of monkey by Hari. He said,'Apportioning intoxicating liquor to the demons and poison to Lord Sankar, you appropriated Ramaa and the lovely gem to yourself.
You have ever been selfish and perverse and treacherous in your dealings.'
This is all true to all of us. We curse God when things are not favourable to us though whatever God does is always good for us.

Whenever virtues decline and vile and haughty demons multiply and do wrong things that can not be told. Whenever Brahmans, cows, gods and the earth are in trouble, the gracious Lord takes various forms and relieves the distress of the virtuous.

If men repeat His name even in the state of helplessness,sins committed by them in the previous existences are burnt away. Those who devoutly remember Him, are able to cross the ocean of mundane existence just like a mere hollow made by the hoof of a cow.

asi sab bhanti alokik karani. mahima jasu jaai nahi barani.
He walks without feet, He hears without ears and performs various actions without hands.He enjoys all tastes without mouth and a most clever speaker without tongue. He touches without a body,sees without eyes and catches all odours without nose. His ways are thus,supernatural in every respect and His (Lord Ram's) glory is beyond description.

The world of matter is the object of illumination while Lord Ram is its illuminator. He is the Lord of Maya and abode of wisdom and virtues. It is due to His reality that even unconscious matter appears as real through ignorance.

Shri Ram who is Truth,Consciousness and bliss combined is like the sun, the night of ignorance can not subsist in Him even to the smallest degree.He is the Lord whose very being is the light. There is no dawn of understanding in His case.

Jo gun rahit sagun soi kaise. jalu him upal bilag nahi jaise.
jasu naam bhram timir patanga. tehi kimi kahia bimoh prasanga.
How can absolute become qualified? In the same way as water and hail stone are not different in the substance. Infatuation is out of question for Him whose name is like the sun to the darkness of error.

There is no difference between qualified Divinity and unqualified Brahma, so declare the sages and men of wisdom, the Vedas and puranas. That which is attribute-less and formless, imperceptible and unborn becomes qualified under the influence of devotee's love.

The ears of those who have never heard the sories of Shri Hari, are not better than snake holes.The eyes of those who have not been the blessed by the sight of Shri Hari are like sham eyes in a peacock's tail.
The heads of those who do not bow to the soles of Hari and preceptor, are like bitter pumpkins. Those persons are like dead bodies whose hearts are not filled with the devotion of Lord Ram.The tongue which does not sing the the praises of Lord Ram,is the tongue of a frog.The heart which does not rejoice to hear the tales of Hari, is hard as adamant and cruel indeed.

Those who do not love the lotus feet of Lord Shiv,can not dream of pleasing Ram.A guileless love for Lord Shiv is the surest symbol of devotee of Ram. Who is so faithful to Lord of Raghus as Shiv who renounced his sinless wife as Sati and demonstrated the ideal of devotion to Ram by making a pledge. Brother, no body is as beloved to Ram as Shiv.
Here Tulsidas says that Shiv is true devotee of Lord Ram and Ram is also devotee of Shiv. Hence no dispute between Shaivas and Vaishanas.

The exploits of Girija's lord are illimitable like ocean, even Vedas can not reach the end. How,then, can Tulsidas,a most dull witted clown can succeed in describing them.Tulsidas was a great saint but he always addresses himself as "Ati Matimand" most dull witted person. This shows the down to earth and ego-less nature of a saint.

At the direction of sages, Sambhu and Bhavani paid divine honours to Lord Ganpati. Let no one be puzzled to hear this; one should bear in mind that gods have existed since beginning.
Bavarth: As we worship Lord Ganesh at beginning of every subh karma, similarly Lord Shiv and Parvati also worshipped Lord Ganesh at their marriage.No one should doubt this thinking Ganesh as the son of Shiv and Parvati because all gods existed since time without beginning.

When the mother of parvati refused to marry her with Shiv, Narad told her the story about Sati.Sati when disguised herself as Sita, she was disowned by Shanker. Separated from Shiv,she visited the sacrifce(jajnya) performed by her father and burnt her body in the fire of Yoga. Now after taking birth in your home, she has performed great penance for the sake of getting Shiv as her husband. Thus leave all doubts because Parvati is always beloved to Lord Shiv.

The mother of Parvati,after seeing the strange form of Lord Shiv said,
"How strange that the Creator, who has made you so lovely,should have given you a crazy fellow for a bridegroom.A fruit which should have adorned a wish yielding tree,is helplessly appearing on the thorny Babul. Taking you in arms I would sooner fall from a mountain top.cast myself in the flames or drown in the sea. Let my home be ruined or let me earn bad fame throughout the world, but in no case I will not marry you with this maniac as long as I am alive."

बिलगु होइ रसु जाइ कपट खटाई परत पुनि।
jalu puy saris bikai dekhau preeti ki reeti bhali.
bilagu hoi rasu jai kapat khatai parat puni.
Water is sold like milk, this is due to mix up with love.But when the acid of deceit is poured the water is separated from milk and the taste is sour. Love and friendship is based on mutual faith of each other. If some thing is hidden by one person it destroys the faith and can not be easily re-established.
This has been said by Tulsidas regarding Parvati who did not tell Shiv about how she examined Lord Ram by pretending herself as Sita.

सती बिधात्री इंदिरा देखी अमित अनूप।
जेहिं जेहिं बेष अजादि सुर तेहिं तेहिं तन अनुरूप।
jah chitvahi tah prabhu aasina. sevahi sidh munis praveena.
dekhe siv bidhi bisnu aneka. amit prabhav ek te eka.
bandat charan karat prabhu seva.vividh besh dekhe sab deva.
sati bidhatri indira dekhi amit anoop.
jehin jehin besh ajadi sur tehin tehin tan anuroop.
When Sati wanted to see the Godliness in the Lord Ram, she made the form of Sita to examine Him but Ram instantly recognised her and asked about Shiv. She was ashamed on her behaviour. The Ram showed to her His super powers. Wherever she looked she found the Lord Ram sitting dully worshipped by sidhas and illuminated sages.She also saw many Shivas, Brahmas and Vishnus each possessing the a glory infinitely greater than those of others.She saw various gods worshipping the feet of lord Ram.She further perceived innumerable Satis,Bidhatries and Laxmis in form conforming to the corresponding Shivas Brahmas and Vishnus.
Whenver Ram wished He showed his Super powers to the entitled person.

Hoihi soi jo Ram rachi rakha. ko kari tark badhabai sakha.
Whatever Lord Ram wishes must happen. Why should one indulge in further speculations.The same has been told in Gita:
Karmanye va adhikarste maa faleshu kadachan.
Man is free to do his duty but the fruit is in the hands of God.

Muni dhir jogi sidh santat bimal man jihi dhyavhi.
kahi neti nigam puran aagam jaasu kirati gavhi.
soi ram byapak brahm vhuvan nikay pati maya dhani.
avtariu apne bhagat hit nijtantra nit Raghukulmani.
He who has incarnated Himself as jewel of Raghu'srace for the sake of His devotees, is no other than supreme eternal, who is all pervading and ever free, who is the ruler of all worlds and Lord of Maya, whome illuminated sages, yogis and sidhas constantly meditate upon with their sinless mind and whose glory is sung by Vedas and Puranas and other scriptures in the negative terms'Not this Not this'
This is the reply given by Lord Shiv to Parvati regarding Ram when asked by her as to why He will take a form of man as son of king Dashrath.

अति बिचित्र रघुपति चरित जानहि परम सुजान।
जे मतिमन्द बिमोह बस हृदय धरहि कछु आन।
Ati bichitra raghupati charit jaanhi param sujaan.
Je matimand bimoh bas hridaya dharahi kachhu aan.
Extremely mysterious are the ways of the Lord of Raghus, only the supremely wise men can understand them. The dull-witted in their height of folly imagine quite different.
The ways of Ram are very confusing to the dull persons as His actions seem to be very ordinary but the real meaning is felt by the wise and that is explained the people.

Saints lay down the rule,Vedas as well as Puranas and sages loudly proclaim that pure wisdom can not dawn in the heart if one keeps anything concealed from ones spiritual guru.That is why if any doubt i there in the mind of a disciple, he should not hesitate in asking the answer from the Guru.

तापस सम दम दया निधाना। परमारथ पथ परम सुजाना।
भरद्वाज आश्रम अति पावन। परम रम्य मुनिबर मन भावन।
Bhardwaj muni bashi prayaga. Tinhahi Ram pad ati anuraaga.
Taapas sam dam daya nidhana.parmarath pad param sujana.
Bhardwaj ashram ati paavan. Param ramya munibar ati bhavan.
Here Tulsidas describes the Asram of Bhardwaj Muni where Yajnvalkyaji narated the story of Lord Ram to Bahrdwaj. Bhardwajji lived at Prayag. He was extremely attached to the feet of Ram. He was great ascetic and an embodiment of self restraint, composure of mind and compassion and highly advanced on spiritual path.The hermitage of Bhardwaj was most sacred spot exceedingly charming and attractive even to the great sages.
Note:There are four places where the Katha of Ram Charit is being recited-
1.Lord Shiv to Goddess Parvati at Mount Kailass
2. Kak Bhushandi to Garud
3. Yajnvlkya to Bhardwaj at Pryag
4.Tulsidas to all of us who read it

By reverently bathing in the holy water of Manas(Ram Charit Manas) and drinking from it all traces of sins and remorse are wiped out of heart. it wipes out lust, anger, pride and infatuation and enhances pure wisdom and dispassion.

The manas (Shri Ram Charit Manas) is most inaccessible for those who lack provision for journey in the shape of piety, who do not enjoy the company of saints and who do not love Lord Ram (Lord of Raghus-Raghunaath). Three main qualities for enjoying Ram Charit Manas are:-Shradhaa,company of saints and love for Ram.

taten Ramcharitmanas bar. Dharehu naam hiy harshi Har.
Tulsidasji wrote Ramcharit Manas in Awadhi language depicting the story of Lord Ram. Why is it called Ram Charit Manas has been explained in the above two Chaupaaies.
Having conceived it, the great Lord Shiv kept it in his mind(manas) till a favourable opportunity presented itself, He told the story to Shiva (parvati). Therefore, Lord Shiv ,after due consideration, joyously gave the excellent title of 'Ram Charit Manas'.

Even those who are free from all desires and absorbed in the devotion to Lord Ram have thrown their heart as fish in the nectarine lake of supreme affection of name (of Shri Ram)
Most of the people recite the name of Ram to get their desire fulfilled but those who do not have any desires and are brahmleen also love the name of God.

I adore to the king of Awadh who has such a true love to the feet of Lord Ram that he gave up his dear life as a mere straw the moment the Lord Ram who is compassionate to the poor,parted from him.
If anybody wants to have the grace of Lord Ram, he must learn from king Dashrath. This the limit of love towards God. He cna not live without Him even for moment as a fish can not live without water.

I adore the lotus feet of all the beings with folded hands whether animate or inanimate present in the universe recognizing them as consisting of Lord Ram.
At another place Shri Tulsidas says:
सीय राममय सब जग जानी। करउ प्रनाम जोरि जुग पानी।
Seey Rammuy sab jag janni. Karau pranam jori jug Paani.
Considering this whole universe consisting of Ram and Sita, I Bow to all with folded hands.
This shows that this whole universe is the form of God. This is actually the Virat roop of God. We should love all without ill will to anybody.

Good person has inclination for good things while vile has inclination for vickedness. Nectar is praised for its immortalizing virtue while poison is famous for its deadly effects. This universe has been created by the God,which is full of animate and inanimate beings as also with good and bad things.Swans in the form of saints collect the milk of goodness leaving the water of evils. A swan has special quality to separate milk from water.

Shri Tulsidasji here bows to the saints who have even mind.They do not have any friend or foe. The are like flowers of good fragrance when held in the palm, give equal fragrance to both the hands left or right(the hand which plucked or held the flowers). Keeping in view the loving nature and their love for the benefit of the world,I request them to consider the request of a child and bestow the devotion to the feet of Lord Ram.

Satsang mahima cont:
सठ सुधरहिं सतसंगति पाई। पारस परस कुधात सुहाई।
बिधि बस सुजन कुसंगति परहीं। फनि मनि सम निज गुन अनुसरहीं।
बिधि हरि हर कबि कोबिद बानी। कहत साधु महिमा सकुचानी।
सो मो सन कही जात न कैसे। साक बनिक मनि गुनगन जैसे।
Sath sudhrahi satsangat paee. Paaras paras kudhat suhaee.
Bidhibas sujan kusangat parahi. Fani mani sam nij gun anusarhi.
Bidhi hari har kabi kovid baani. Kahat saadhu mahima sakuchani.
So mo san kahi jaat na kaise. Sak banik mani gun gan jaise.
Even wicked persons are reformed with the contact of virtuous persons as the iron is transformed into gold with contact of philosopher's stone (paaras). If by chance virtuous person falls in the company of bad persons, he follows his qualities as a gem on the hood of a serpent.
Even the speech of deities like Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva,poets and men of wisdom falter to describe the importance of pious men, how I (Shri Tulsidas) can describe them as a vegetable vendor can not tell the qualities (properties) of gems.

सतसंगत मुद मंगल मूला। सोइ फल सिधि सब साधन फूला।
Binu satsang vivek na hoee. Ram Kripa binu sulabh na soee.
satsangati mud mangal moola. Soee fal sidhi sab sadhan foola.
one can not achieve wisdom without the association of saints and that too is not easy without the grace of Shri Ram. Satsnagati( the association of saints) is the root of all joys and blessings. This is also the fruit and fulfiment of all endeavours.
The importance of satsang has been frequently described in ram Charit Manas. Satsang means nearness of truth which denotes God,Guru,Saints, scriptures etc.
