ELDERS DAY 1ST OCT.
A small poem for the Elders' Day.
Old age
Old age is an age-old stage coach everyone needs to travel
If only they keep huffing and buffing to reach that level
For some it is golden filled with love and care
For many it is only full of struggle and despair
A few look back with content and pride
Many cringe and sigh at the past bumpy ride
Crimpled skin and aching bones may fill some frame
But the spirit of life and sheen in the eyes do not wane
Some may chant and some may rant to while it away
Some do take to books or to sing their soul out in gay
Whichever pursuit one decides at dusk to espouse
Blessed is the one who does it without a grouse
