वो जब भी मिला हम से अपनों सा मिला है Na phoolon ki hasrat hai, na kanton se gila hai mai sood lautaya hai, jo duniya se mila hai ham kaise samajh pate, dushman ke iradon ko vo jab bhi mila ham se, apnon sa mila hai (I have no desire for flowers nor any complaint against thorns I've returned with interest whatever I received from this world how could I understand the intentions of my enemy'cos whenever he met me, he met me like my own) madan gauria (27-04-2010)
I am sending a link of a Hindi song from old film Sambandh. Theme of the song is "Chal Akela Chal Akela". Please cut and paste it in your browser. I hope you are able to listen. I am sure you will like it.
We get so many identities but we are still searching for human beings. If you allow me I will also add two lines from my side:

This reminds me an old song in Hindi .
In Roman English it is Tu Hindu banega na Musalman banega
Insan ki aulad hai Insan banega
So Sir , as per your & Shri JK's version we are souls .We are human beings and must always
try to be HUMANE .
But ,the reality is
The translation of above may be : Although human life exists for the last many thousand years ,
yet we are still to find a humane being .
Despite all this ,there is all round positivity in the human race ,attitudes & behaviour .
With regards

Directly opposite versions by different shayars on Zindagi. It is up to you which side your choose. One is pessimistic, other is optmistic. I hope you like them. Shayars not known)(
Umre daraaz maang kar laye the chaar din,
do arzoo mein kat gaye do intezzar mein.
I had asked for life of only four days
Two I wasted in wishing and two in waiting.
Kehate hain zindagi hai chaar din ki.
bahut hote hain yaro chaar din bhi.
They say life is only of four days
(But if you want to do some thing)
four days are also more than sufficient.
Aagaah apni maut se koi bashar nahin
samaan sau baras ka pal ki khabar nahin,
Nobody knows when he has to go,
Still he collect the things for hundred years.

Some photos of lovely girls, some letters from beautiful dames,
This is all what they found from my house after I died

I don't feel like living in this devastated place
who has lived for ever in this uncertain world
I was given life only for four days
two went in wishing and two in waiting
How unlucky was Zafar even for his burial
two yards of place he could not get in his own land.

Someone is ending the dispute of his sorrowful life
please come, someone is going from this world
O messenger of death just wait for two minutes
I have heard that someone is keeping her promise (of coming)
Who knows life may come back in my dead body
someone is decorating my pyre with her beautiful hands

Asli chehron ko yahan ghar chhod aate hain log
tum se milte hain nakli muskaan chipkaye hue
ek bhi shakhsh mera hamsafar ban na saka
muddtein ho gayi hain mujhe is shahar mein aaye hue
People come out after leaving their real faces at home
they meet you with artificial smiles on their face
I could not find a single person who could walk with me
years have gone by when I came to this place

Hindi meri nani hai, punjabi* meri maan
dono ka mein ladla, dono ki mein jaan
Angreji aai door se, angrejon ke saath
ghar ki maalik ban gai, hindi bani anaath
doojon ke pad pher mein, sab kuchh diya gawaye
Bharat teri aabroo, kaudi badle jaaye

Very good presentation. This will definitely be very helpful to our friends who are not very comfortable with Hindi/Urdu. They will also be able to enjoy intricacies of Urdu poetry. This reminds me of few lines written by Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last mogul king expressing some thing similar. Please read it for yourself.

Naa thi haal ki jab hamen apni khabar
rahe dekhte auron ke aibo hunar
padi apni buraaion pe jab ik nazar
nigaah mein koi bura naa रहा
Zafar aadmi un ko janiye ga
go ho vo kaisa hi sahibe fahmo zaka
jise aish mein yaade khuda na rahi
jise taish mein khaufe khuda na raha
(As long as I was not aware
I went on seeing the shortcomings of other people
the moment I realized my own shortcomings
I found no body is bad
Zafar says do't think of any person as "man"
however educated he may be
who does not remember the God when he is enjoying
and who is not afraid of God when he is excited)

Shaikh Sahib aap shuru to kijiye. Basically every body is a shayar. At one or the other time perhaps during his school/college days or when he falls in love for the first time he is always fascinated by shayari. But in the long run in your struggle for survival or Rozi Roti ki talash mein all those soft feelings are forgotten and left some where. Aap shuru karenge to baaki longo ko bhi apne vo bhoole huye din yaad aa jayen ge. Wish you all the best.

Dear Shaikh Saheb,
It is very nice of you to remember the good old days. Memories are always sweet. Thanks a lot. But it will be in fitness of things that you post your famous poem Seven Sisters for benefit of our members.
As regards the other couplet I feel it needs some elaboration for members to grasp its meaning:
I must add here that "laam" is a Urdu letter which resembles reverse "L" in English. 'Gesu' means hair, 'kafir' means infidel and 'kayal' means believer. The incident pertains to Lahore during pre-independence era when a line was given to shayars and they were expected to recite the full poem based on the said line. In the instant case it was A famous Hindu Shayar was approached to preside over the function and he gave his consent. However later on when he learnt of the line he was shocked. Those were the days of Hindu Muslim tension. If he says this line Hindus will not spare him or if he does not say it will be insult of shayari and Muslims will laugh at him. He started counting the days of his life. However on the day of function when he was going he saw a picture of Lord Krishna at a Paan shop and he got a brain wave. Rest is history- this is how he completed the couplet. Every thing ended very peacefully and perhaps he got the biggest applaud of history from Hindus and Muslims both.
