K Balasubramanian (M-34)- I think I'm living in the cloud;

I think I'm living in the cloud;
Floating, dismembered parts of me,
attaching themselves on my Android.
My readings tell me if I'm complete!

For I'm an amalgam of numbers,
from brain scans to foot monitors.
Even the drugs are intravenous,
all through remote apps monitored!

For food I have different powders,
Customized for my body alone.
The food machine talks to the app,
Which feeds it all the formulas!

My choice of friends is suggested,
By this other app who knows it all.
It even books me in where required,
tells me later - wisdom of the cloud!

I read what's in vogue, wear what's trendy.
No need to think, I do what I'm told.
The apps: they do the ordering,
They talk to the cloud: They know, they know!

I don't decide the route to work,
Nor what I need to do, and how.
For that, there's an app on the cloud,
Which runs the schedules of the world!

The software knows where I will be
this evening, and who I will meet.
Its serendipity engine
makes sure, that, to me, it's a surprise!

There is faith, and people still pray
To the all-encompassing cloud,
Which decides who is the most pious,
and rewards him with a week of choice!

And no one wants to pray therefore,
For choice is a most difficult thing.
They'd rather their lives were run by the cloud.
It knows all. Isn't it a wonderful thing?!!

M M S Rekhrao (M-138)- GULZAR QUOTES -

Gulzar has an insightful look at the Changing Times

"traffic signal"
internet, office,

M G Warrier (M-34)- The Fire has taken wings

(I have attempted making a ‘free English rendering of the thoughts contained in a poem “Avanivideyilla!” published in The Mathrubhumi Vaarandappathippu dated August 2, 2015 by Sh V Madhusoodanan Nair for the benefit those who don't know Malayalam-  M G Warrier (M-34) 02/08/15)

The Fire has taken Wings!
The fire has taken wings, and flown
Beyond the skies, beyond boundaries of the Skye!
HE appeared, responding to the prayers
Walked across, spreading the Almighty’s message
With conviction of a teacher, in his eyes
Making wards keep their eyes open
Filled his words with fire
Made listeners dream awake, and
Move to realising their dreams
By replacing work for slumber!
He made India’s SOUL pierce through the skies
Making the world realise, that SCIENCE
Can bring peace on earth
Can make flowers bloom in deserts!
Head up above the Himalayaas
Thoughts rekindled by the roots down south*
Cool Soofi music encapsuling, the Fire
In every word energised by Quran
Bequeathed his heritage, to the millions
Of children, students and youth
He met, on the long path he covered
On foot, by cycle, by road, by air
During his unfinished journey!
The FIRE has taken WINGS, and flown
Into the unknown, leaving THE LIGHT OF LIFE
The attire, for anyone to done, which
Death cannot steal, weapons cannot pierce!

madan gauria (M-1)- Poem for Poem for Sh PPR

(This beautiful poem has been composed by our friend Sh K R Vijayaragavan in response to a poem - My E-mail friends - sent by Sh PPR I think this is the best appreciation Sh PPR can get- poem for poem.)

oh our dear God

thank you for your blessings
in the form of PPR's sayings.

Like the lover waits for a letter
eagerly from her half better

we open our inbox daily
to see PPR's mail gayly.

if NIL, we are disappointed
still we wait duly undaunted

say the subject which,
he gives his replies rich

languages play in his finger tips
with informative matter in ships.

His reviews , par excellence
makes one rejoice, in silence.

Gained are those in the group
even other friends relish his soup

Flowers, Photos, History and all,
makes he, the readers to fall.

Long Live Long live PPR
healthily, happily where u are.

Thank God once again
for riches, from PPR we gain.

Yash Bhushan Bajaj (M-21)-

P P Ramachandran (PPR) (M-37) - E-MAIL FRIENDS

Dear God...
I know you're watching over me
And I'm feeling truly blest
For no matter what I pray for
You always know what's best!
I have this circle of E-mail friends,
Who mean a lot to me;
Some days I "send" and "send,"
At other times, I let them be.
I am so blessed to have these friends,
With whom I've grown so close;
So this little poem I dedicate to them,
Because to me they are the "Most"!
When I see each name download,
And view the message they've sent;
I know they've thought of me that day,
And "well wishes" were their intent.
So to you, my friends, I would like to say,
Thank you for being a part;
Of all my daily contacts,
This comes right from my heart.
God bless you all is my prayer today,
I'm honored to call you "friend";
I pray God will keep you safe,
Until we write again.

madan gauria (M-1)- Jaane kyon aaj

K Balasubramanian (M-34)- Modi's year in office

Modi's year in office

He is lying prone on the mat,
And striking classic yoga poses;
With a million cheering him on,
Of course, impeccably dressed!

He takes the US by storm,
Cheered by Desis at Madison Square,
A million are always turned out,
To cheer the ultimate showman on!

He speaks in quotes and aphorisms,
Perfect for the age of twitter;
He knows the art of byte-sized sound,
For a world that can't focus longer!

He shares the stage with world leaders,
In their home, visiting their town;
Hosts visiting ones on jhulas,
In his own beloved home town!

His ministers form a circle,
Whose role is to point to the center;
Lest anyone still misses it,
He's the one dressed in most splendor!

Each event of his is so well-timed,
Though he thought of it years in advance;
He won't let any good thing go,
For lack of timing, unheard, unsung!

He's got the teams to project him,
For any event, the right platform!
Laser shows during the elections,
Followed by one show every month!

He knows the art of projection,
Of waiting, and of deception;
With no family to distract him,
There's also the aura of renunciation!

He keeps his enemies at bay,
In different Machiavellian ways;
They cheer: those who wish to gain,
The others' balls: he holds in his hands!

Enemies have been known to vanish,
All but friends, decimated;
A man you  can't antagonize,
Either you cheer, or stay silent!

He has an event for the moment,
And several scandals held in reserve;
To release when the time is right,
When he's in trouble, or before the polls!

From the gullies of Gujarat he came,
To storm the walls of Lutyens' Delhi;
Over every person he looms,
Who stare in awe or cower in fear!

Who knows if this is for the good,
Or will lead to anything better?
A megalomaniac come to save us,
Or a mahiavellian deliverer?

K Balasubramanaian (M-34) - THAT'S MUMBAI

THAT'S MUMBAI !!! with a Superb definition ....

Mumbai is rich,
Mumbai is poor.
Mumbai is fast,
Mumbai is slow.

Little bit sweet,
and little bit sour.
Sometimes it's hot
but not too more.
Mornings are energetic
and evenings are electric.
Noons are lazy but
Nights are crazy..

And any one you ask,
he always say "M busy"
Dude, life in Mumbai''
Is not so easy...!
There is lot of Masti with
little bit of Maska...
Welcome to the city
that can't live, without Bollywood Chaska.!
Sev puri, Vada Pav and bhel puri
are all Mumbai chaat..
Relishing it with spicy chutney is no easy art..
From popcorn to ice-cream, all sold on cart,
Mumbai o Mumbai you're always close to my heart.!
Where local trains
usually run on time,
And violently rushing
for a seat is not a crime.
Here 3 PM for lunch and
12 AM to dine,
People face hardships,
but still say "it's fine".!
From Mt. Mary in Bandra
to Mumba Devi in Town,
And ISKCON in Juhu to Haji Ali in Mumbai's Crown.
Marathi, Punjabi, Gujarati and Bengali,
Everyone together celebrate Eid and Diwali,
Holi is colorful and Christmas is cheerful,
Spend some time here and your life will be unforgetful.!
Billionaire to beggars,
all found in this city,
Be careful dude,
this place is a bit witty..,
Overall this dream-world
is huge but pretty,
Mumbai o Mumbai,
you're a wonderful city.
Because...
she is like a mother to millions.
After all a mother is called,
MUM in English,
BAA in Gujarati
AAI in Marathi.
That’s MUMBAI....
